ATLANTA -
Zoo Atlanta officials say Ivan, a western lowland gorilla who died last month, apparently died as a result of a tumor.
According to a preliminary necropsy report, a growth found in his chest may have been a tumor. The necropsy was performed by UGA's Veterinary Medicine Zoo and Exotic Animal Pathology Service.
A public memorial service for Ivan is schedule to be held on Saturday, September 8 at 11 a.m. The service will be held at the Ford African Rain Forest at Zoo Atlanta.
