London Harmon was in the backseat of the van heading home from a dental appointment with her 12-year-old brother, 7-year-old sister, and 2-year-old brother last Wednesday. Her mother was driving as somehow a gun went off.
Six days later, London's grandmother, Debbie Odem, said the child's recovery has been miraculous.
"They've taken the tubes out. She's walking on her own," said Odem. "She's talking. I just talked to her on the phone…She said ‘Nana, Nana, are you coming down here?' I said, ‘Yes, I'm on my way.' We literally run and got in the car."
Clayton County police have not explained how the accident happened. London's grandmother couldn't shed any light either.
"The kids were on the way back from the dentist office so I don't know anything," she said.
Odem says all of her thoughts and energy are with that special little grandgirl.
"London is probably -- she never meets a stranger. She's so spunky...You just gotta know her," said Odem. "I just want to thank everybody that has been praying for her and lifting her up and still prayer. This is a long road."
London is recovering from brain surgery. Her family says she is in a regular room and anxious to play and laugh.
Clayton County police said on Tuesday that they have no update on the case or any possible charges.
