Thousands of troops who were evacuated to Georgia because of Hurricane Isaac are returning to their normal posts.
WALB-TV reports that 3,900 troops started leaving a Marine Corps Logistics base in Albany on Saturday to return to the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Fla.
Those troops had been evacuated northward as Hurricane Isaac approached the shoreline of the Gulf of Mexico.
Marine Col. Jim Sherrill said Pensacola was spared major damage. While the base received high winds and rains, the damage was light compared to other parts of the Gulf.
