The funeral of a reputed gang leader drew hundreds of mourners and police in the southwest Georgia town of Albany.
Members of a police anti-gang unit and other officers stood watch as 24-year-old Dontavious Santez Luke was remembered during a service Saturday at a church in Albany.
The Albany Herald reports that Luke was reputed to be a leader of a gang called the Southside Bloods. Police reports says he was killed by members of a rival gang called the Rattlers on Aug. 26.
One man is charged with murder in the killing, and three others are being held.
A friend of the Luke family, Vondermere Upshaw, called the large funeral turnout a "humble and peaceful demonstration."
