State officials announce bird hunting season

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

State officials have approved Georgia bird hunting seasons.

The September Canada goose season will stretch the full month of September. The initial teal season will run from Sept. 8 to Sept. 23.

There are two windows for duck hunting. The first is Nov. 17 through Nov. 25. The second, longer season begins Dec. 8 and ends Jan. 27, 2013.

A full schedule for all waterfowl, including daily limits, is available online at gohuntgeorgia.com.

The Georgia Board of Natural Resources determines the seasons within rules of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Waterfowl hunters in Georgia must have a state hunting license, federal duck stamp, Georgia waterfowl conservation license and an HIP permit. Licenses are available online at georgiawildlife.com and at more than 800 locations around the state.
