FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (AP) - The Atlanta Falcons have reduced their roster to 53 players, cutting cornerback Dominique Franks and linebacker Spencer Adkins.
The Falcons also released fullback Mike Cox and long snapper Joe Zelenka on Friday, electing to go with younger players at those spots.
Franks was a fifth-round pick in 2010 and made four starts last season. Adkins started the playoff loss against the New York Giants in place of injured Stephen Nicholas, but the Falcons are going with only five linebackers.
Among the other moves, receiver Kerry Meier was waived-injured, while safety Shann Schillinger went on injured reserve.
