Gas prices frustrate drivers heading into holiday weekend

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

Gas prices are remaining steady this holiday weekend, but that's not providing drivers with any relief.

According to AAA, people filling up this holiday weekend in metro Atlanta are paying about $3.94 a gallon.

Driver Dan Hammer, who was filling up at a station in Buckhead on Friday, said the prices were "ridiculous."

"For all the reasons why they go down in price and they go up – there's no rhyme or reason to it. We're a captive audience to it," said Hammer.

Some drivers said they weren't sure who to blame.

"Whoever is in charge kind of has us by the tail and can pretty much do whatever they want. We can all complain and have our voice and everything but they still get the last say and we are forced to pay these prices," said Justin Zink, who said he had spent $400 on gas so far on a drive from Michigan in a U-Haul truck.

Some grocery stores are offering drivers a break at its station.

Wal-Mart kicked off its "Great Gas Rollback" on Friday, which helps customers save 10 to 15 cents on each gallon of gas, when they use a Wal-Mart gift card, money card, or credit card to purchase fuel.

The deal is good through December 24.
