ATLANTA -
There will be plenty going on this Labor Day weekend in Atlanta, and the Atlanta Police Department is urging drivers to be careful if they plan on attending these big events.
Police say thousands of visitors are expected in Buckhead, downtown and midtown through the weekend. Atlanta will be hosting several events, including NASCAR at Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton, DragonCon, Black Gay Pride and several college and pro sporting events.
Police are urging visitors to use MARTA or carpool when possible. They do say that if you must drive to any of these events, be sure to leave your valuables at home and to keep your car locked.
Atlanta police say they will have plenty of on and off-duty personnel available to handle traffic and security problems.
