Here are some tips we mentioned on Good Day, courtesy of Pike's Nurseries:

Crotons

  • Croton Basics
    • Codiaeums, more commonly known as crotons
    • Perfect for celebrating fall with their colorful foliage and varying leaf forms
    • Prefer humid, warm conditions with dappled light and plentiful water
    • Plant in containers
      • Plants are quite large so one plant in a pot is fine
      • Group a few containers together for more interest – use just crotons or mix with containers full of mums
      • When temps start to dip, bring crotons indoors (usually mid-October)
  • Indoor crotons prefer bright, indirect light – the more bright light they receive, the more their colors shine
  • Fun Croton Varieties
    • Freckles
      • A medium/large leaf
      • Leaves at top are primarily green with yellow flecks
      • Leaves toward the bottom of the plant have more amber tones
  • Gold Dust
    • Thinner leaves
    • Green dusted with gold/yellow spots
  • Mango
    • Larger leaf
    • Many different colors including yellow, green, red and orange
  • Brazil
    • Very long, thin leaf
    • Yellow/green leaves with stripes as well as leaves with red/purple stripes
  • Iceton
    • Large leaves

Pink, peach, and yellow tones – perfect for fall through Thanksgiving
