One metro Atlanta commuter doesn't worry about the ups and down of gas prices.
Patrick McClure takes an AutoMoto, a three-wheeled scooter-like vehicle, back and forth from his home in Acworth to his job with the Mckesson Corporation in Alpharetta.
The trip is 35 miles each way, but he says the design of the scooter keeps him comfortable -- even while driving in bad conditions.
"If you keep the speeds less than 50 miles an hour, it'll get almost as high as anywhere from 88 to 90 miles to the gallon," said McClure.
It may not be for everyone, but Patrick says the scooter, with an automatic transmission and a four-speaker stereo and iPod connection, works for him.
He doesn't fret about gas prices.
"A big hike like we just saw recently -- 50 cents -- maybe adds a dollar to my expenses, so I almost don't notice it until I start seeing my wife's credit card receipts for our mini-van, That's when it really hits home," said McClure.
He bought the AutoMoto used for $2,000 and says it has saved his family thousands since.
"After using this for a few months, we started coming up with a lot of extra money in our monthly budget, We didn't realize how much it saves you not to have a car," said McClure.
