Isaac prompts flood watch for parts of SW Georgia

THOMASVILLE, Ga. (AP) - Forecasters issued a flood watch for parts of southwest Georgia as Isaac brings the threat of torrential rainfall as it pushes closer to the Gulf Coast.

The National Weather Service on Monday morning issued the flood watch for the Ochlockonee River in Georgia and Florida. Forecasters say Isaac could produce up to 5 inches of rainfall over the river basin by Wednesday morning, driving the river to minor flood stage.

In Georgia, the flood watch covers Grady and Thomas counties in the southwest corner of the state.

Forecasters say there's also a possibility of tornadoes in the southwest corner of the state. The storm has been on a track similar to Hurricane Katrina's path in 2005, which contributed to 16 tornadoes across Georgia.
