FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (AP) - Federal labor officials have cited a Flowery Branch company with 19 safety and health violations following an accident that killed an employee.
The Times newspaper in Gainesville reports (http://bit.ly/Tj5rDT ) reports that 30-year-old Adam Wingo died after the March 3 accident at Koswire, a Korean manufacturer of wires and cables.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration says Wingo became caught in moving wire and was pulled into rotating rolls. OSHA says the accident was preventable.
The citations carry $145,530 in proposed penalties. The company has 15 business day from receipt of the citations to comply, request a conference with OSHA's regional director or contest the citations and penalties.
The Flowery Branch office of the company could not immediately be reached for comment Monday.
