New designs coming for Ga. wildlife license plates

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

A state agency wants Georgia residents to help it select designs for four new wildlife-themed license plates.

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources is collecting votes online for the new car tags through Sept. 15. A share of the money raised by each license plate will help fund wildlife conservation and habitat restoration.

Two of the tags will benefit nongame conservation and possible designs feature the blue heron, a green tree frog, the bald eagle, the painted bunting and the North Atlantic right whale.

The DNR's Wildlife Resources Division will also pick designs for two other tags to benefit bobwhite quail and trout species in Georgia.

The website to cast votes is georgiawildlife.com.
