Schmitt goes back to school after Olympic stardom

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - Allison Schmitt was a star at the Olympics. Now, she's just another student at Georgia.

Schmitt won five swimming medals in London - three golds, a silver and a bronze. Only good buddy Michael Phelps captured more hardware.

But while others are cashing in on their victories, Schmitt kept her amateur status so she could return for her senior year with the Bulldogs. She's looking forward to competing on the NCAA circuit, even though it may be a bit of a comedown from swimming at the Olympics. She's also working to finish her degree in psychology.

Schmitt says it's strange to be recognized as she walks around campus. She was approached while waiting to catch a bus on Wednesday. Also, she's been asked to pose for pictures in class.
