LOGANVILLE, Ga. -

Residents paid tribute to a fallen airman killed in Afghanistan. People lined the streets for Major David Gray's procession in downtown Loganville on Tuesday.

The husband, father of three and veteran Air Force officer was killed in a suicide bombing on August 8.

Members of Loganville's American Legion Hall rode in the procession to honor Gray.

Riders were flanked on both sides of the road by people who never met the airman.

"I think what that says about people here is that they're very caring and they understand what Major Gray did for our country," said Toni Allen.

"He was a father, a husband and a lot more than that. He was a hero," said Dale Bailey.

Gray will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery on August 24. The 38-year-old is slated to posthumously receive the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for valor on the battlefield.
