Traffic investigators reconstruct an accident that happened Friday on the eastbound lanes of I-285 near I-75.
COBB COUNTY, Ga. -
Police were out Sunday morning on Interstate 285 in Cobb County to reconstruct a wreck that claimed the life of a man and snarled afternoon rush hour traffic for commuters on Friday.
Authorities say the passenger in the pickup truck died at the scene. Police have not released the man's name because they have not been able to notify his family yet.
They identify the driver of the pickup truck as being Enio Tejada, 50, of Lawrenceville. He was transported by ambulance to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital with non life-threatening injuries. He was later released.
The driver of the tractor-trailer, Jamie Poole, 39, of Lula, and the driver of the Lexus, Mark Shorthouse, 27, of Atlanta, was both uninjured in the accident.
Investigators shutdown the same stretch of road around 8 a.m. Sunday to reconstruct the scene. They say they got conflicting reports from witnesses, but police know that one of the vehicles made an improper lane change. They also say that the accident caused the pickup truck to overturn several times.
