A high school student from Henry County died on Friday afternoon, school officials confirmed.
A posting on the Ola High School's Facebook page identified the student as Jason Holland. He was a football player at the school, according to school officials.
Holland's cause of death has not been determined. Henry County Schools spokesman J.D. Hardin said that Holland did not pass away at football practice or school.
"We were saddened to learn of the passing of one of our Ola High School students this afternoon. Any time we have a student pass it is tough for everyone. As we remember this loss, our thoughts turn to the family of this young student and the Ola High School family, and we ask for the same from everyone concerned. We have counselors and support staff ready for any student or faculty member needing to speak with someone," Hardin said in a statement emailed to FOX 5.
A game scheduled for Friday night between Ola High and Henry County High has been postponed until August 24, according to the Facebook page.
