JONESBORO, Ga. (AP) - Authorities are investigating the death of a Clayton County inmate.
Sheriff Kem Kimbrough says the inmate was found unresponsive in his cell early Wednesday morning during a routine check. The inmate was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead around 4 a.m.
Kimbrough did not release the inmate's name, pending notification of his family.
Kimbrough says the Georgia Bureau of Investigation will do an autopsy to determine cause of death. Kimbrough says the inmate, who was in his late 50s, had a history of medical problems.
