Lilburn police are urging seniors to be on the lookout for a con artist approaching elderly drivers. Authorities said three women have been scammed by a man who convinces them that he is trying to help them.
Police say that in all three instances, the man pulled up alongside the women and told them that their rear tire was low on air. He instructed them to pull over so he could help change it. However, when the women pulled off the road, the man went around to the passenger side, grabbed their purses and ran off.
The man has been driving a dark gray or black full-size pickup truck, possibly a Dodge Ram. He has also had a female passenger riding with him.
If you feel like you are being targeted and have a cell phone, police say to call them. If not, don't stop until you're in an area where there are plenty of people around.
Anyone with information on the scam is urged to call Lilburn police at 770-392-8952.
