Council votes to censure Stockbridge mayor

Posted: Updated:
STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. -

Stockbridge city leaders voted to officially censure Mayor Lee Stuart on Monday.

The council voted 4-1 last month on the censure resolution, but it became official tonight.

Councilmembers accused Mayor Stuart of harassing city employees and disrupting government functions.

The vote came after Stuart allegedly accused the city's municipal court of ticket fixing and demanded increased court security to safeguard against angry citizens.

Council members say the censure does not have any practical affect on the mayor, but they say it makes Stuart aware that harassing behavior toward city workers will not be tolerated.
