NORCROSS, Ga. -

A computer connection problem is being blamed for delays at driver's license offices in Georgia on Wednesday.

Customers experienced waits of up to four hours at Department of Driver's Services office across the state.

The DDS posted a notice of the delay on its website. The department told FOX 5 that its computers were unable to connect to the national registry.

The connection was later reestablished, but still moved slowly.

The state said the problem was not related to new document requirements that recently went into effect for driver's license renewals.

The computer connection was fully restored by the end of Wednesday.
