CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. -
A Cherokee County horse is recovering after it became stuck under a bridge.
The horse was found along Hancock Mountain Trail. According to the Iron Gait Percherons - Rescue Facebook page, the horse slipped and fell while crossing a creek. She become wedged under an old bridge. It's still unclear how long the animal had been trapped.
Cherokee County Firefighters, members with Cherokee Animal Control and Milton's Animal Rescue Team worked to free the animal on Tuesday morning.
The team had to use a wrecker service to lift the animal back on its feet.
After two attempts, the horse was finally able to stand again.
The horse suffered bruises and a possible fractured hip but is expected to be OK, according to the Iron Gait Percheron posting.
