Get Up & Go: Perseid meteor shower viewing at Cloudland Canyon State Park

Posted: Updated:

In this Get Up & Go, we're headed to a Georgia state park in the middle of the night!  Cloudland Canyon State Park is located about 145 miles northeast of Atlanta, and it will be the place to be for the Perseid meteor shower this weekend.

Located in Dade County, it's the perfect place to watch the Perseid meteor shower, which should be spectacular.  There may be as many as 50 to 60 visible meteors per hour.

If you go, you'll need a red cellophane-covered flashlight, and a chair or blanket.  You should meet up at the tennis courts a little before 2 a.m. on Sunday.  Parking is $5.00.

Most people treat their dogs just like their children. However, when it comes to dog safety in the vehicle, many drivers are buckling the children up but not safely restraining their pets.
