Hot Topic: UFOs - Real or fiction?

Posted: Updated:

With all the buzz over NASA's rover "Curiosity" successfully landing on Mars and searching for life, something else is buzzing, too: conspiracy theorists.  A retired Air Force lieutenant now says that not one but two UFOs crashed in Roswell, New Mexico back in 1947.

In an exclusive interview with the Huffington Post, retired Air Force Lt. Col. Richard French claimed that there were actually two crashes.  In the past, French has been known to debunk UFO stories, which makes his admission all the more interesting.

"The first one was shot down by an experimental U.S. airplane that was flying out of White Sands, N.M., and it shot what was effectively an electronic pulse-type weapon that disabled and took away all the controls of the UFO, and that's why it crashed," French told the Huffington Post.

He said the second crash happened days after the first one.  Meanwhile, another retired officer said he doubts French's story is true.

So here's Tuesday's Hot Topic Question of the Day: Do you believe in intelligent alien life?
