Zoo Atlanta eastern bongo expecting 2nd calf

ATLANTA -

Zoo Atlanta is preparing for a rare new addition. Matilda, a four-year-old eastern bongo is expecting!

It's not clear when the calf will be born, but zoo officials estimate the newborn could come as early as December.

Eastern bongos are critically endangered animals. Less than 500 are believed to remain in the wild in their native Kenya.

This will be Matilda's second calf. She gave birth to son Beauregard last December.
