Gas prices continue to rise

Posted: Updated:
SUWANEE, Ga. -

Gas prices are back up – again. The average price for regular gas climbed 8 cents a gallon last week in Georgia.

Prices for regular gasoline dropped below $3 a gallon at a QuikTrip in Suwanee at the end of June. Now it's back up to $3.45.

Analysts thought prices would stabilize this month, but a QuikTrip spokesman says wholesale gas prices across the country took a big jump.

AAA Auto Club Group says a the rapid rise in prices can be attributed to a new jobs report, perhaps signaling increased fuel demand, as well the possibility that bad weather in the Gulf of Mexico could affect supplies. They said the recent price spike demonstrates how a range of factors can rapidly affect fuel costs.

Prices are expected to rise again this week.
