ATLANTA -

Skateboarders took on the cleanup of a flooded skate park on Saturday in the Old Fourth Ward following several days of passing showers filled it with water and debris.

Charles Hawkins, a regular at the park, says the skating bowl has been filled with about six feet of water for a couple of days despite workers efforts. So, the skaters decided to drain the bowl themselves.

Hawkins says pine straw and dirt in flower beds above the skating bowl gets washed into it every time it rains causing some of the flooding. He says a broken pipe from the nearby Beltline project may have added to the problem.
