Police in Athens are investigating the theft of piglets that were being kept as pets.
The Athens Banner-Herald reports that a woman told police Monday that someone stole the pair of piglets from the back yard of a home sometime over the weekend.
The woman says the 6-month-old pigs were rescue animals she kept as pets.
Police say a neighbor on Saturday filed a complaint with Athens-Clarke County Animal Control, claiming the pigs were in violation of a zoning ordinance.
However, Animal Control officials told police that they did not take custody of the pigs.
