CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Chicago police are on the lookout for a man who they said tried to sexually assault two women at knifepoint on the Near West Side.

Police believe one man is responsible for about a dozen attacks. Police said the man preys on young women walking alone. He targets them, robs them and has tried to sexually assault them.

The most recent robbery victim tells FOX Chicago she parked right outside her house on the 1800 block of North Kedzie and he rushed her out of nowhere.

She hit him with the gate, got on the other side. She said he pointed a gun at her and demanded money. She complied and he walked away.

The woman who was robbed warned her neighbors, who said they were startled.

Police are distributing a sketch of the suspect. They say he's in his 20s, has twisted hair, or it might be in dreadlocks. He has a scar or tattoo of a teardrop under his right eye.

Police said the attacks that include robbery, rape, and attempted sexual assault, usually between the hours of 10:30 p.m. and 1:30 a.m. They suspect he terrorized a couple of neighborhoods on the North Side: Humboldt Park, Wicker Park, Logan Square and Buck Town.

Police said the attacks began on July 11 in Humboldt Park. That's when the suspect tried to rob a woman and sexually assault her friend and another woman in one night. They were walking alone.

Police urge Near West Side residents to avoid walking alone by walking in groups, call 911 if they see the suspect, and stay alert until this man is found.
