Ga.-based Air Force Reserve Command gets new chief

ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. -

Thousands of Air Force reservists across the U.S. are getting a new commander at their Georgia headquarters.

Lt. Gen. James F. Jackson is scheduled to take over as leader of the Air Force Reserve Command in a ceremony Monday. The command is based at Robins Air Force Base south of Macon.

As commander, Jackson will be in charge of supervising 71,400 Americans who serve in the Air Force Reserves. The job makes Jackson the top adviser on reservist issues to the Air Force chief of staff.

Jackson has served at the Pentagon as deputy to the chief of the Air Force Reserve since 2010.

He replaces Lt. Gen. Charles E. Stenner Jr., the reserve commander since 2008, who is retiring after 39 years of military service.
