Investigators are trying to determine if lightning may have been the cause of the fire. They believe that it may have sparked an explosion in some of the plant's propane tanks which quickly spread the fire to the rest of the facility.
Plastics from carpet remnants and other materials have been burning for days. Officials concerned over the unknown health hazards from the smoke and fumes evacuated all residents who live within a quarter mile of the blaze. Many of the 200 people affected by the mandatory evacuation order are still at an area church waiting to be let back into their homes.
Emergency officials say there was a report of a firefighter at the scene being injured, but could not give details of the severity or type of injury.
Over a hundred firefighters have been working around the clock to try to bring the fire under control.
