NORCROSS, Ga. -

Three men were arrest Saturday after an attempted robbery and standoff with the Gwinnett County police SWAT unit.

According to the Gwinnett County Police Department, George Hernandez, 20, and Mario Almaguer, 18, both of Lilburn, along with a 16-year-old boy, also of Lilburn, barricaded themselves in a Norcross apartment complex just after midnight on Saturday morning. Police say they attempted to rob a taxi driver near Indian Trail Road and Tech Drive, but ran off when the driver resisted.

Police attempted to get the men out, but when they refused, they called in the SWAT unit and surrounded the building. A police negotiator was able to convince the men to surrender peacefully about a half hour later.

Both men were charges with Criminal Attempt to Commit Crime according to Gwinnett County Jail records. Almaguer has additional charges of Burglary and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

No one was injured during the robbery or standoff.
