UGA to hold summer commencement ceremony

ATHENS, Ga. -

Nearly 1,500 students will be eligible to receive degrees when the University of Georgia holds its summer commencement.
 
The ceremony is set for Aug. 4 at 9:30 a.m. in Stegeman Colidsuem. The combined ceremony for undergraduate and graduate students will honor those who have completed degree requirements by the end of the summer semester. About 742 candidates for bachelor's degrees and 734 candidates for doctoral, master's and specialist in education degrees are anticipated to be eligible to participate in the ceremony.
 
Pat Mitchell, president and chief executive officer of the Paley Center for Media and a magna cum laude graduate of UGA, will be the speaker for the Commencement ceremony. Mitchell holds bachelor's and master's degrees in English from UGA.
