ATLANTA -

Georgia authorities say a motorcyclist is dead after he crashed into a guardrail while fleeing a traffic stop in metro Atlanta.

The Georgia State Patrol tells FOX 5 News 44-year-old George Andrew Tillage of McDonough died Friday night after crashing his 2003 Kawasaki motorcycle on Interstate 285.

Georgia State Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright says a state trooper was trying to stop Tillage for a tag violation when he sped away and began weaving through traffic. Wright says the motorcyclist lost control on an exit ramp and crashed into a guardrail.

Wright says the pursuing trooper called for medical assistance, but Tillage was pronounced dead at the scene.
