The start of a new school year is just around the corner, and several area businesses and churches are offering special deals and giveaways this weekend!

At Greenbriar Mall, on Saturday, July 28th, 2012, one thousand lucky students will receive a backpack filled with necessary supplies for school. The supplies are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The child must be present to register.

The celebration will happen between 11 am and 4 pm.

The Vertical Church in Atlanta is hosting its first back to school event to help the children of the Vine City/English Avenue community. The "Burgers and Backpack" back-to-school event is free and open to the community. This event will not only offer school supplies to deserving students; Vertical Church will feed and provide outreach services for the entire family.

The event will take place on JULY 28, 2012 at the English Avenue School Community Campus located at 627 English Ave. Atlanta, GA. 30318 from 1 pm - 3 pm.
