ATLANTA -

With just less than a week to go before the controversial T-SPLOST vote, a new poll sheds light about the public's opinion on the transportation situation in metro Atlanta.

According to nearly 600 people polled by InsiderAdvantage/ Majority Opinion Research, 46 percent of Atlantans have "no confidence" in the Georgia Department of Transportation's ability to improve the traffic flow in metro Atlanta, 32 percent have "some," while 12 percent have "complete confidence."

When asked if they thought the HOT lane project on I-85 had improved traffic flow, 52 percent said no, 11 percent said yes.

Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed and other metro leaders appear in a new cable TV ad from transportation referendum supporters.

FOX 5 political analyst and InsiderAdvantage CEO Matt Towery says the polls show that supporters of the referendum have their work cut out for them.

"I would say as I sit here tonight, based on the numbers I've seen, it's going be tough for them to pull this off," Towery said.

Voters head to the polls on July 31.
