DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -

DeKalb County has shut the water off to 200 families at an apartment complex after a dispute over a broken pipe.

Tenants at the Valley Oaks Apartments are caught in the middle of a disagreement between apartment management and county water officials.

DeKalb County water officials shut down the water on Sunday after a pipe that feeds the complex burst.

Temperatures have been in the 90s as officials work to determine who is responsible for fixing the water break.

"We maintain the lines up to the point of the meter. In March, we had to replace the meter, which was fully within our responsibility to do at the time. This break is on the other side of the meter and took place several months after we did the work," said DeKalb County spokesperson Burke Brennan.

Brennan said that the water was shut off because it posed a threat to residents.

A nearby church is providing water for residents as officials work to resolve the dispute.
