The Varsity goes orange with 80th anniversary

ATLANTA -

It's been a Georgia icon for decades, and The Varsity has planned a special celebration in honor of the 80th anniversary of its Varsity Orange. Good Day's Paul Milliken, armed with his undercover camera, took us into The Varsity vault, and opened the vat of the classic drink.

"We make it homemade here everyday. We make about 200 gallons of product a day," said The Varsity President Gordon Muir.

The Varsity is a noisy place, and it's a location where Naked Dogs are sold by the dozens, along with it's special orange. What is in the drink that causes people to order hot dogs or onion rings for breakfast?

"I can't tell you the secret ingredient, but what's interesting is the company that we get it from is still around and we've been buying it from them from the 1930s," said Muir.

On July 24 only, The Varsity will be giving away a small Varsity Orange drink all day long to those that order food at any of its locations.
