Burglars broke into and ransacked an 87-year-old man's home in Stone Mountain.
Floyd Thompson, who is confined to a wheelchair, came home from an out of town trip to find everything he worked for in his 87 years -- plus the sentimental things that belonged to his late wife -- trashed. In every room, furniture was splintered into pieces. drawers and closets were pulled apart and tossed around.
"It's just so many things…I couldn't begin to count them," said Thompson.
Floyd Thompson said he built the home back in the 1950's with his own hands. He said he's on a fixed income and didn't have much to steal.
"Whoever done this must have been mean or something," said Thompson.
Thompson's daughter, Judy Parker, says only a couple of old hunting rifles and a little cash were actually stolen.
"It just made me so angry that somebody could do something like this," said Parker.
There didn't appear to be any purpose in much of the damage -- the sofa cushions were slashed, food like sugar and flour were dumped on the kitchen floor and medication was dumped on the bathroom floor.
Even more senseless, the family says burglars urinated in several of the rooms.
"I feel angry and hurt, but I'm a man that's...I guess, try to make myself believe things will be better in a while," said Thompson.
Thompson has insurance, but his daughter worries it will not be enough to replace everything he lost. Police told the family that it will be a tough case to solve.
