ATLANTA -
A woman injured in a weekend car accident involving an Atlanta police officer has died, according to the Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office.
Police say Officer Joshua Sieck of the Atlanta Police Department was traveling westbound on Cascade Road when he struck the side of a BMW 740i sedan, driven by 59-year-old Jacqueline Culp, traveling southbound on Fairburn Road just before 5 p.m. on Saturday.
The crash sent the BMW into a Chevrolet Impala that was waiting for the light in the eastbound lanes on Cascade Road. The driver of the Impala was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital but later released.
Sieck was transported to Grady and is listed in critical condition. Culp was transported to Atlanta Medical Center where she died on Monday.
Police say Sieck was responding to a call with lights and sirens when the crash occurred.
Family members of Culp told FOX 5 that she told them that her car radio was not on and she heard no sirens before impact.
No charges have been filed.
The Atlanta Police Department released a statement saying, "The Atlanta Police Department is aware of the unfortunate passing of the driver of the BMW from Saturday's officer involved accident. We will continue to cooperate with the Fulton County Police Department, who is conducting the accident investigation. Our office of professional standards will be conducting an internal investigation. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of the deceased."
The accident remains under investigation by the Fulton County Police Department, who will conduct a reconstruction of the accident on Wednesday.
