ATLANTA -

Are you deep into your summer reading?  Is it a book made of paper or an eBook?

Is anyone really surprised by this that American publishers are now saying they sell more eBooks than hardcover books when it comes to their fiction selections.

Altogether, eBooks brought in $282 million in the first quarter of 2012. That's a 28-percent increase over last year.

And get this, young adult, adult and children's eBooks ballooned 233 percent to $64 million in the first three months of 2012.

Why? That's easy.

Experts say it's the proliferation of eReading devices. Of course, there's the Kindle, the Nook and many other eReaders, but now you can read eBooks on any tablet or Smartphone.

The other category that has seen a huge increase because of tablets and Smartphone is audio books.

Audio book sales increased 32 percent the first quarter of this year. They play right on the device. No more big binders of CDs or cassette tapes.
