FOX 5 has confirmed that Usher's 11-year-old stepson has died of injuries he suffered in a jet ski accident on Lake Lanier. Kile Glover, the son of Usher's ex-wife Tameka Foster Raymond, was rushed to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston after the July 6 accident.
Kile was at Lake Lanier for a day with a large group of friends and family when tragedy struck. The Georgia Department of Natural Resources says the man who was driving the jet ski, 38-year-old Jeffrey Hubbard, was also part of that same group.
DNR officials say the group rented two jet skis and a pontoon boat for the day, and Kile was riding in an inner tube behind the boat along with a 15-year-old girl when Hubbard's jet ski hit them. Both children were airlifted to the hospital, and the girl suffered a broken arm and lacerations on her head. Kile suffered severe head injuries.
Usher and Kile's mother, Tameka Foster Raymond, divorced in 2009. TMZ.com reports the singer chartered a plane for his ex-wife, who was out of town when the accident happened, so that she could rush to her son's side.
Authorities say alcohol was not a factor in the accident. They say Hubbard was interviewed, but he has not been charged. Stay with FOX 5 and myfoxatlanta.com for more information as it becomes available.
