Usher's stepson dies after jet ski accident

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

FOX 5 has confirmed that Usher's 11-year-old stepson has died of injuries he suffered in a jet ski accident on Lake Lanier.  Kile Glover, the son of Usher's ex-wife Tameka Foster Raymond, was rushed to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston after the July 6 accident

Kile was at Lake Lanier for a day with a large group of friends and family when tragedy struck.  The Georgia Department of Natural Resources says the man who was driving the jet ski, 38-year-old Jeffrey Hubbard, was also part of that same group.

DNR officials say the group rented two jet skis and a pontoon boat for the day, and Kile was riding in an inner tube behind the boat along with a 15-year-old girl when Hubbard's jet ski hit them.   Both children were airlifted to the hospital, and the girl suffered a broken arm and lacerations on her head.  Kile suffered severe head injuries.

Two days after the accident, TMZ.com reported that Kile had been declared brain dead.

Usher and Kile's mother, Tameka Foster Raymond, divorced in 2009.  TMZ.com reports the singer chartered a plane for his ex-wife, who was out of town when the accident happened, so that she could rush to her son's side.

Authorities say alcohol was not a factor in the accident.  They say Hubbard was interviewed, but he has not been charged.
