Investigators seize nearly 13,000 marijuana plants

ATLANTA (AP) - Two men have been arrested after investigators discovered them allegedly growing nearly 13,000 marijuana plants over several acres in North Georgia.

The Gilmer County Sheriff's Office said Friday that the value of the marijuana is estimated at more than $15 million.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (http://bit.ly/O3L6TF ) reports that 31-year-old Miguel Angel Silva of Roswell and 19-year-old Angel Adrian Ramirez of Chamblee were arrested Thursday. Police say the men are charged with manufacturing marijuana.

Brandon Owens, commander of the Zell Miller Mountain Parkway Drug Task Force, says investigators spotted the grow operation on three to four acres on Ga. 52 East near Southern Road, while searching the county from the air.

Silva and Ramirez are being held at the Gilmer County Jail. It was not immediately known whether they have an attorney.
