'Cam Newton Drive' in Fulton County proposed

Posted: Updated:
FULTON COUNTY, Ga. -

A Fulton County Commissioner is proposing changing the name of a road to honor Cam Newton.

Commissioner William "Bill" Edwards wants to change Scarborough Road to honor The Carolina Panthers quarterback and Westlake High School graduate.

In 2011, 23-year-old led the Auburn Tigers to the BCS national championship, won the Heisman Trophy and was the first overall pick in the NFL draft.  He's only the third player to ever have done all that in one year, but is the only player to have also won "Rookie of the Year."

There is a meeting next Tuesday for residents who'd like to weigh in on the proposal.
