The proposed transportation tax would fund a host of projects in the metro area, including roads, trains and buses.
A list of 157 projects to be funded by the so-called T-SPLOST has been released by metro leaders.
One of the most controversial items of the list is the Atlanta BeltLine -- an ambitious combination of parks, trails and mass transit.
The bulk of the money in Atlanta itself would go to the BeltLine and to a series of streetcar lines linking neighbors to the Beltline and MARTA.
In Gwinnett County, it's all about roads. A road widening along Peachtree Industrial is part of nearly $800 million in road expansion and construction projects in the county
The biggest of the Gwinnett County projects would help traffic along overcrowded Highway 316. The T-SPLOST would fund a $296 million extension of Sugarloaf Parkway.
Instead of expensive rail lines, Cobb County wants to create a series of express buses. They'd have their own dedicated lane along I-75 and would take people directly from the northern part of the county to downtown and midtown Atlanta.
The biggest single project on the list is a $700 million MARTA expansion into DeKalb County. It would run to the crowded Clifton Corridor, home to Emory University, its hospitals and the headquarters of the Centers for Disease Control.
Voters will head to the polls to decide on the tax on July 31.
