DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. -

Douglasville firefighters tell FOX 5 a child on a bike hit a car along Cindy Drive off of Pope Road on Tuesday.

Authorities say the 12-year-old child is in critical condition at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

Neighbors said that the street, which consists of two hills, is an area popular for young bikers. They complain that there aren't enough stop signs or speed bumps on the street.

"Kids come flying down the hills – there's no speed breakers on this side or the other side," said Shannon Powell.

Police said that they have added additional speed patrols in the area in response to the complaints.

The accident is under investigation. Authorities said it was unlikely charges would be filed.
