DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -

One person was killed in a fire in DeKalb County on Monday, firefighters said.

DeKalb County fire officials said when they arrived,  the home on Eula Circle in Doraville was fully engulfed in flames. The home's roof collapsed. Fire officials said that Ross Donis was killed in the fire.

Neighbors said that Donis had lived in the home for more than 50 years.

Firefighters said the flames were so large that the blaze almost spread to a house next door. Officials were able to prevent the fire from the destroying the neighboring home.

"It was probably within 30 seconds of becoming involved itself with fire," said Asst. Chief Steve Ham of DeKalb Fire and Rescue.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
