President Barack Obama says government investment has made a crucial difference in helping businesses succeed. The President argues that top earners should help pay more to trim the deficit.
Campaigning in Virginia on Friday, President Obama said business owners need to think about the government investment that helped them, from teachers to transportation.
"If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help," Obama said on Friday. "There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you've got a business. you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen."
President Obama wants to wants to extend tax cuts only for families earning less than $250,000 a year.
Democratic Majority Leader Harry Reid has pledged a vote on the President's tax plan before Congress leaves Washington in August. Whether he has the votes is still unclear.
FOX 5's Paul Yates talked to small business owners in Atlanta to get their thoughts on the President's comments.
