A Roswell bridal boutique is giving military brides-to-be a chance to find the perfect dress for free as a salute to their service.
Brides began lining up early outside Wedding Angel Bridal Boutique in Roswell on Thursday.
Three friends -- Chelsea Weaver, Kim Stroud and Nicole Corley -- were among those searching the racks for the right dress. Each woman has different wedding ceremony plans, but they do have at least one thing in common: they or their soon-to-be spouses are in the military. Two have had civil ceremonies, but now they want the whole experience.
"We had a courthouse and e didn't have an actual wedding," said Weaver.
"My parents were upset they weren't able to attend. They want something bigger," said Stroud.
Corley and her husband are both based at Fort Benning in Columbus, Ga. The chance at a dream dress for free is taking some stress out of the planning process and is validation for the sacrifices they endure.
"To know that people really do care that much about people, about what we do…what we sacrifice. It's really touching," said Corley.
It's a salute to service that Angel Bridal Boutique owner Jacqueline Westney has been giving military brides for five years.
"It just blows our mind every time how many people really need the dresses," said Westney.
"It's hard on families. We have to be away from family, so it's amazing people take the time to show their appreciation," said Corley.
After four tries, Corley finally found "the one."
Wedding Angels Bridal Boutique provides the service for military brides twice a year, near the Fourth of July and Veteran's Day.
Brides have another to find the dress of their dreams on Friday during the day at the Roswell shop. For more information on this event, call Weddings Angels at 770-645-0404.
