The search continues for the hit-and-run driver responsible for a fatal accident on Interstate 75 in Henry County on Sunday.
Five members of the Walker family were returning from church when a dark-colored SUV struck their vehicle near Haynes Bridge Road, sending it airborne. Paramedics rushed all five victims to area hospitals. On Tuesday, Tamika Walker, 32, died from injuries suffered in the crash.
"She was a very outgoing young lady. She loved the lord, she loved to sing – a very beautiful voice," said Charlie Walker, Tamika's great uncle.
James Walker and Mattie Hambrick remain hospitalized. Carolyn and Kendrick Walker were treated and released.
Witnesses only gave a vague description of the suspect's vehicle. Charlie Walker is asking anyone with information about the crash to contact authorities.
"If you are the driver…you come forward if you have a conscious. Let it work on your conscious, you come forward," said Charlie Walker.
Charlie Walker says his family feels no anger towards the driver responsible; they just want that person to do the right thing.
"We're not holding grudges, we're not angry… we just want you to come forward so we can have closure on this case," said Charlie Walker.
Police say the SUV that caused the crash should have noticeable damage to the front right bumper area.
Tamika Walker is survived by a 13-year-old daughter.
A fund has been set up at Bank of America in Tamika Walker's name.
